Admissions Checklist - UGA Undergraduate Admissions

Admissions Checklist - UGA Undergraduate Admissions Admissions Checklist I will tell you right now, I love the podcast for NPRs Hidden Brain by Shankar Vedantam. I hope that one day I might be a part of a story about college admissions on this podcast (I know, keep dreaming). And one of my favorite episodes on this program is Check Yourself, a podcast about how checklists, similar to the ones airline pilots now use, can be vital in other areas. The start of the program deals with the growth of the airline business, and a 1935 Boeing crash that led to the development of the first airline pilot checklist. It then leads into the other business sectors which can be improved by using checklists. In our research concerning last years applicant pool, there was a dramatic dip in both admission rates and strength of essays for students did not plan ahead in their college application process and who waited until the last minute to apply. Preparation is key for a number of things, including the college admissions process. With the opening of the UGA Freshman applica tion on September 1 fast approaching, here is a quick checklist for potential applicants. While the first two checklists are key right now, I thought I would throw in the last one so you can see what is down the road. Pre-Flight Checklist College Spreadsheet: Create a basic chart with the name of each college you are considering, the application and material deadlines for the different schools and decision plans (EA vs RD for instance), the materials needed for each, and the rough decision dates. HS Transcript: Obtain a copy of your HS transcript for self-reporting your grades, and also to look back and see what courses you have taken and how you did. Resume: Create/Update your resume, and have it available for the co-curricular sections of the application. It is much easier to complete the activities sections of an application when you already have a rough framework. Personal Data: Make sure you have the correct Social Security Number, full name and birth date, then verify them all again. Roughly 100 enrolling students a year get one of these wrong, then have issues with their FAFSA or HOPE aid, and the issue generally arises around the time to pay for the first semester. School Contacts: Have your HS counselor and teacher information available (name, title, email address). Payment Info: Have your payment information available, be it a credit card number or a fee waiver document. In-Flight Checklist Review the Data: During the application process, look at the Freshman Profiles for each college you are considering. Remember that these are only the mid-ranges, so there are students above and below the middle. As well, try and understand what different colleges focus on in their review (grades, test scores, essays, hair color, etc.). Start working on your essays. Most students start roughing out theirUGA admission essaysafter the application opens (but you can start sooner!), but remember that you dont need to either rush through them or obsess over each word. We suggest you write them first in a program like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, and make sure to proofread the essays, have someone review them for you, and dont wait until the last minute to start on these. Double Check Required Items: While you know you requested your test scores, transcripts and recommendations to be sent, you always want to make sure that X/Y/Z college actually received them. UGA has an online admissions status page so you can see what we have received, what is still missing, and the details of the items we have in your file. Dont listen to rumors/myths about college admissions.I have been over this many times in many blog posts, so I wont beat a dead horse. All I can say is that I have had three surgeries in my life, but going through the experience does not make me a doctor, just a good patient. Let your parents be involved in the admissions process, but only so much.It is okay to allow your parents to be a part of the college admissions process, but make sure that you are the one who completes the application, writes the essays, etc. Your parents can be great at helping you keep track of deadlines, make plans for visiting colleges, and giving you suggestions about your application. In the end, though, make sure you are the one driving/managing this process, as you are the one who will be at college next year. Senioritis: Dont catch it. Seriously. Gun Violence in American Culture - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 6 Words: 1703 Downloads: 6 Date added: 2019/03/20 Category Society Essay Level High school Tags: Gun Violence Essay Did you like this example? Guns, guns, and more guns are becoming an integral part of American culture. The problem is that guns are providing far too many Americans with the courage to be insane or even misuse them. Guns have their pros and cons. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Gun Violence in American Culture" essay for you Create order Guns can be used to protect citizens in their everyday life or those same guns can be used to harm those citizens. Despite having gun law, we still face common tragedies to this day such as mass shootings, school shootings and even suicide. So, what can really change to prevent such things from happening or can the common problem be changed at all? According to the United States law the laws regulate the manufacture, trade, possession, transfer, record keeping, transport, and destruction of firearms, ammunition, and firearms accessories. We should allow the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to track gun sales, and keep the data it collects electronically and searchable. This data would be a slight decrease in violence if we knew more about the firearm thats been sold or even the area of location. Most individuals still manage to get possession on firearms and ammunition but is that enough. We need to empower a permanent commission, possibly under the Department of Homeland Security, to bring all the data together, in consultation with law enforcement, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education and any other relevant parties, to make ongoing policy and regulatory recommendations to reduce gun violence. Firearm sales and individual verification records are basic devices law implementation can use to understand wrongdoings including firearms and recognize degenerate weapon merchants and buyers. While government law requires authorized firearm merchants to keep up deals records, it likewise requires the FBI to annihilate affirmed historical verification records, hampering law authorization endeavors. States can and should find a way to fill the holes in government law. Firearm sales and personal investigation records can be utilized by law authorization in various approaches to explain weapon wrongdoings and recognize firearm merchants and buyers who are disregarding state and government firearm laws. For instance, deals records can empower officers to distinguish the last retail buyer of a gun that has been utilized in a wrongdoing, which can prompt the ID and indictment of fierce offenders. Federal law requires authorized guns merchants to keep up records of weapon deals inconclusively, including data about the firearms being acquired, and the purchaser. Federal law disallows the government from gathering gun deals records in a focal storehouse, in any case. Without a focal archive of all gun deals records, weapon following is a moderate, unwieldy process. Unified records of weapon possession would significantly expand the proficiency of the following procedure. These records would likewise help law requirement recover guns from people who have turned out to be lawfully denied from having them, and they could be utilized to alarm law implementation to the nearness of weapons at a private living arrangement when they are reacting to a crisis call. All together for law authorization to have finish data about weapon possession, notwithstanding, Congress would need to bring the private deal to a loophole, which enables weapons to be sold by people who are not authorized guns merchants. Governmentally authorized gun merchants are required to utilize the National Criminal Instant Background Check System (NICS) to direct individual verifications on forthcoming guns buyers to guarantee that the gun exchange would not abuse administrative or state law. For instance, merchants may endeavor to conceal deals to individuals who might fail a background check by putting the name of somebody with a spotless record on the background check application. Another manner by which law requirement could utilize individual verification records is to reveal weapon trafficking rings. To recognize weapon traffickers, government law expects merchants to report offers of more than two guns in a five-day time frame to ATF. People can just avoid this prerequisite by purchasing firearms from various merchants. Without an incorporated archive of records, merchants have no chance to get of realizing that purchasers are visiting various merchants. When getting a firearm if you are a felon with a sentence exceeding 2 years or a misdemeanor, past or present and those who are involuntarily admitted in a mental institution are disqualified for getting a firearm. I feel as is if you have a felony or a misdemeanor period you should not qualify for a firearm. If we have anyone trying to get a license I feel we can eliminate a lot of problems by having these individuals obtaining a psych evaluation to determine whether you are suitable or not to have a firearm. If you a felony, why cannot more investigation be done to these individuals or safer use on firearms. We live in a society that involves incredible decent variety of practices and philosophies. We are likewise a society that tries to oblige however many of these practices and belief systems as could be allowed. Be that as it may, as a society, do we not have the privilege to guarantee the wellbeing of our citizens? Do we not have the obligation to ensure our kids as they play and learn in their schools? Do we not have the privilege to appreciate a motion picture without dread of being executed or injured? Is the second amendment more prominent in degree and significance than the other constitutional amendments? Given the present condition, clearly it is. Should we keep on giving more noteworthy assurance to weapon proprietors to the detriment of the rest of society, we can rely on more mass killings and suffering. I trust that we should never again endure seeing individuals grieve the loss of family and companions essentially claiming others have a need to arm themselves with weapons that are intended to murder. Mass homicides are not dedicated by rational individuals. Just a little portion of rationally sick individuals at any point end up brutal, and afterward, ordinarily, when they neglect to get treatment. People with a serious dysfunctional behavior ought not be permitted to buy weapons or approach them. Join firearms and untreated psychological instability, you have a disaster holding up to occur. When your child turns 18, he or she has a common ideal to reject treatment and remain rationally sick until or except if she or he ends up self-destructive or desperate, as controlled by judges at responsibility hearings. State laws shift, yet all states set strict controls with respect to automatic hospitalization and constrained treatment, restricting it to conditions when a man is an inescapable risk to self or others, or prone to end up so. These laws give adults with psychological sickness the privilege to choose when, where, how and regardless of whether they will get treatment. However , some genuine psychological instabilities make it troublesome for those influenced to evaluate their own requirement for treatment. At the point when persistent rights surpass important securities, people with extreme psychological sickness can pass on. Whats more, many do. Also, occasionally, they hurt others along the way. It is hard to evaluate the likelihood of a person to submit a rough demonstration that hurts anybody including himself/herself. In this manner, firearm laws require be observed intently and made more steady all through each state to avoid savagery that could avert mass shootings. Mass shootings in the United States have been lamentably turned into an irritating pattern that seems to be on the rise. There have been shootings out in the open spots accepting media inclusion and giving the recognition they are turning into the new typical. Schools, malls, movie theaters and even churches, are just a few of territories that have seen weapon savagery from a mass shooter. There are such many things to ask it is difficult to figure out where to begin, yet numerous simply need the viciousness to stop. Mass shootings generally are just the same old thing new, aside from they appear to happen more regularly in present day society. You can return in history and find out about mass shootings that have occurred before the turn of the century. The possibility of honest individuals being shot and executed for reasons unknown is sufficient for individuals to need to make a move. The issue here is that it appears there are insufficient individuals willing to stand firm against it. There are laws set up to ensure individuals however they get broken so rapidly enough it is hard to discover another arrangement before another shooting happens. Yet, the issue is that remiss laws time and again make it simple for good citizens to get firearms, as well as for trouble makers to get weapons. The proof is overpowering that general more weapons and more loosened up firearm laws lead to more fierce passing and wounds. According to NYTimes article by Nicholas Kristof How to Reduce Shootings, in 1995, Connecticut tightened licensing laws, while in 2007 Missouri eased gun laws. The upshot? In the wake of fixing weapon laws, gun murder rates dropped 40 percent in Connecticut. Whats more, after Missouri facilitated firearm laws, weapon crime rates rose 25 percent. There has been advance in attempting to make public area more secure however it is a long way from what things could resemble. Schools and other open spots have issues with subsidizing when endeavoring to expand safety efforts. The media has an issue in this also when they watch out for feature material that can be touchy to a few watchers. Tragically, it is reality that more youthful groups of onlookers are being presented to. Meanwhile, more individuals are concentrating on the most proficient method to remain safe, including what should be possible to avoid different mass shootings. First, we must repeal the N.R.A.-backed Dickey Amendment, named for the man who sponsored it, former Representative Jay Dickey, an Arkansas Republican. It reads: None of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control. With generation that we are in, there are too many tragedies. A passage of new regulations would be a welcome change from our political intransigence and lack of response to our ongoing epidemic of gun violence and mass shootings in this country.

Compare/Contrast English Advancement - 1744 Words

Compare and Contrast: George Orwell’s â€Å"Politics and the English Language† and Martha Brockenbrough’s â€Å"Does IM Make U Dum?† Using the English language effectively can be difficult at times. You must consider many factors: who your audience is, what kind of tone you wish to convey, the message you are attempting to get across, and any kind of lasting effect wished upon a reader’s mind. After reading through two essays, Orwell’s â€Å"Politics and the English Language† and Brockenbrough’s â€Å"Does IM Make U Dum?† each reveals different mindsets about the advancement and usage of the English language. On one hand, Orwell seems to advocate the simplification of speech and writing. Rather than seemingly sagacious phrases, useless terms, and†¦show more content†¦Clearly if â€Å"Internetese† is used outside of its realm (the internet), its intended message will suffer greatly, due to the common misconception that anyone sp eaking Internetese is ignorant. Nevertheless, very few things could be further from the truth. Brockenbrough acknowledges that IMing does have a home. It belongs in the internet via chat rooms, games, e-mails, and texting, to name a few. IMing is an extremely efficient way to communicate information as fast as possible. A prime illustration is texting. When texting first arrived, it was on platforms and devices with limited amounts of buttons to press. With the English language comprising of twenty-six letters and an additional number of symbols, each button on a texting device must have multiple purposes and letters assigned. Without having multiple functions bound to multiple buttons, not every goal desired can be completed by a user. Because of this, abbreviations, shorthand, and acronyms were introduced and slowly gained acceptance throughout the general public. This allowed devices with limited functionality (relative to that of a standard desktop computer) to communicate infor mation at almost the same rate as someone with a normal keyboard. The communication was clear and effective, since the audiences receiving the messages or communications know of the devices and are receptive to seeing content delivered in Internetese. Introduction This report is going to analyse the apparel-textile industry and company performance of Ted Baker plc. by using financial analysis. It will also provide useful recommendations for users about investing in the company. 1. 1 Industrial characteristics Ted Baker plc. operates in apparel-textile industry. This kind of industry is famous for designing and selling accessorizes and clothing. Apparel industry consists of wholesalers and retailers. Since retail stores can sell their own merchandise in retail, they are more profitable but also highly risky. Moreover, sales revenue in this industry, especially in retails, tends to be highly seasonal. Sales are usually being maximised during holidays and at the beginning of school periods. 1. 2 Industry averages and competitors Textile-apparel industry has an average market capitalisation of 12B, which shows the average total estimated number of issued shares in companies of this industry. Net profit margin of 6. % is a measure of profitability as well as, shows pricing strategy and how the companies within Apparel store manage their costs. Additionally, dividend yield in this industry is only 1. 1%, which illustrates the rate of return on investment. P/E ratio in this industry is 22. 0 (refer to Appendices 2). In apparel-clothing sector,Burberry Group plc. ranks first for market capitalization. , but it might not be a main competitor of Ted Baker, because of a different style and a price. The main competitors of Ted Baker are Paul Smith, Levi’s, Gap, Reiss and so on. 1. 3 About the Company Ted Baker plc. s a British and world leading clothing brand that operates mainly on three channels: wholesale(45. 1%), retail(46. 6%) and licensing(8. 1%). Beginning from 1988 in Glasgow, they offer two collections per year, which include products such as: menswear, womenswear, accessories, footwear, born by Ted Baker, watches and etc. . Ted Baker is a listed company in London Stock Exchange(LSE:TED) and share price today is 1243. 0p (13-03-2013 at 16:47) . 1. 4 Press media and future strategies According to The Independent (2012), company beats its profit target by overseas expansion such as a new store in Beijing. Its founder and chief executive Ray Kelvin said that despite of the uncertainty in trading sector, company has made a great start to 2012 with a 16% boost in sales. Ray Kelvin recently spoke to media by emphasising that their future plan is to make Ted Baker a global business by opening more stores in Asia and Latin America. Another future prospect is reducing taxation and costs. 2. Financial Analysis of Ted Baker 2. 1 Horizontal or Trend Analysis Table1 (Workings in Appendices 1) Table 1 shows a horizontal analysis drawn about Ted Baker, which shows percentage changes in the elements of Income Statement. It is an effective way of tracking long-term trends. From 2011 to 2012, there is 20% change in revenue, however after deducting costs and expenses this has fallen to 1. 6% as profit for the year. In details, there is a critical change in cost of sales, distribution costs and administrative expenses. As mentioned in part 1. 4, company has expanded its outlets and production in overseas, therefore increase in such costs are natural. In this case, analyzing company’s results vertically would be more beneficial. 2. 2 Vertical Analysis Table 2. (Workings in Appendices 1) In vertical analysis, it is easier to see elements as a percentage of Revenue. Between 2011-12, the portion that cost of sales takes in revenue has increased however, there is a bigger deterioration in distribution cost. In 2011, 9. 21% of revenue remains as profit but in 2012 this figure decreases to 8. 14%. Despite reduction in costs is one of the strategies of Ted Baker(part 1. 4), analysis illustrates that costs increase each year. 2. 3 Ratio Analysis 2. 3. 1 Profitability ratios Profitability Ratios Type 2012 2011 2010 Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) 8. 02% 31. 11% 28. 40% Operating Profit Margin 11. 26% 12. 86% 12. 09% Gross Profit Margin 61. 31% 61. 68% 61. 09% Table 3 (Workings in Appendices 1) Profitability ratios are basically figures to measure if the company is doing well in the terms of profit. ROCE ratio has increased in 2011 but in 2012 it deteriorates by 3%. This fall indicates that company was not successfully getting high returns as a percentage of its resources available, compared to 2011. Operating profit margin figures in the table above show the return from net sales. However profit margin ratios are high enough for the 3 years, there is a fall from 12. 86% to 11. 26% during 2011-12. Sales revenue increases with a higher rate than gross profit so there is a poor control of cost of sales and expenses. Gross profit margin illustrates the proportion of revenue left after deducting cost of sales. During 2010, 2011 and 2012 this ratio has not changed significantly and loosing approximately 40% of revenue after cost of sales is natural for a company in textile-apparel industry as they use relatively more raw material than other industries. Greek Mythology (1019 words) EssayGenerally, the company has not faced any problems about paying interest over the three years. 3. Conclusion As a conclusion, Ted Baker is a listed company that operates as retailer wholesaler and licensing company under apparel-textile clothing company. Recently, this company is growing overseas and sales are increased as a result. However, cost of the company has also increased significantly and as a result, profit increased relatively less in 2012. Generally ratios show that there is higher improvement between 2010-11 compared to 2011-12. There is a slight risk for the company in the short run when inventories are excluded. However in the long-run the company is not much risky. In investor ratio trends, same scenario is being observed, and although there is a fall from 2010 to 2011, in 2012 the figures start to improve. 3. 1 Recommendation The brand name Ted Baker is currently opening new stores in different part of the world and their future strategy is to expand the range even more. However, the success of new outlets is not certain. Additionally, the results such as: earnings per share, financial gearing dividend yield indicates that company is doing well in the terms of financial health and rate of return. Although majority of 2012 results are going up, they have not reached 2010 results yet. For the reasons stated above, it could be recommended to investors to â€Å"hold† shares in Ted Baker rather sell. Buying new shares can also be recommended for risk takers, because buying can be highly risky and the rate of return could also be high. 4. Limitations Retail industries experience seasonality and because of this it is not so certain when the results are being analysed based on annual report. The interim results would give more accurate outcomes about sales and profit. When analysing gross profit margin, it is uncertain that if it is high or low because of selling price or cost of sales. The average selling price could not be found in annual reports. The investment that is spent on promotion and advertisement of new stores of Ted Baker is not available to users to guess the potential success. Acceptable ratio for each industry varies and the general rules about ratios might not be accurate for apparel industry. 5. Bibliography 1. Annual Report 2011/12. (2012). Ted Baker London. The portion south of the Gironde, was made a separate province in the late 3rd century. The remainder became a separate kingdom in the Frankish period. The title duke of Aquitaine was held by the counts of Poitiers from the 10th to the 12th century. The last duke was William X. When his daughter, Eleanor of Aquitaine, married the heir to the throne of England in 1152, the area became an English possession and remained so until the 15th century, when France at the end of the Hundred Years' War annexed it. From the 13th century until the French Revolution, Aquitaine was called Guyenne. The name Aquitaine was revived in the 1960s to designate the economic region comprising the French departments of Pyr?n?es-Atlantiques, Landes, Gironde, Dordogne, and Lot-et-Garonne. Aquitaine is one of the most accessible regions in France. It has a very intricate system of roads and rails. There are a few major airports along with many minor and privately owned runways. In Aquitaine, there are many major cities, such as Bordeaux, Pau, Biarritz and Bayonne. Bordeaux is only known because it is the capital but because of its wines. It is the home to the best wines in the area for example Margaux, Medoc, Sauternes, and Saint-Emilion. This city was, for centuries, a flourishing port. It rose to its pinnacle during the 18th century. Stendhal wrote at this time ?Bordeaux is by far the most beautiful city in France.? Bordeaux is one of the few cities that have wide streets. There are also many things to see in Bordeaux: the Place de la Bourse, St-Andr? Cathedral, Grosse Cloche, the Place du Parlement, the mainsions and avenues designed by the Marquis of Tourny, the Grand-Thtre, and the Palais Rohan. There is also many beautiful intricate details of the city, some as elaborate doorknockers or in the H?tel de Nice on the Place Charpelet. Pau is the capital of the Pyr?n?es-Atlantiques. It is famous for its ch?teau where Henry IV was born. Pau was once a well known cosmopolitan tourist place during the 19th century. Sumptuous villas and luxury hotels were built in the heart of many parks and gardens. The city now owns a golf course, the first one established on the continent, the Gassion hotel, Saint Martin's church. Pau keeps an English town kind of nostalgia, and offers the charm of a genuine garden city. Biarritz is a very rich town located on the Atlantic Coast. It was originally a small whaling town until sea bathing came into fashion. Residents have consisted of Napoleon III, Bismark and Queen Victoria. It is now a city filled with Mercedes and Jaguars. During the off-season, it is a lonely city but during the summer, it is filled with festivals. Today it has a beautiful coastline still fit for a king and queen. Bayonne is located only six hours from France by train and a few kilometers from Spain. It is a trendy city with a small town charm. It has markets, two museums and even a citadel. After the first Tuesday in August there is a festival in which there are five days of concerts, bullfights, fireworks and a boat race. There are many things to do and see in Aquitaine. The Hardest ACT Science Questions and Strategies to Solve Them

The Hardest ACT Science Questions and Strategies to Solve Them SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips In every section on the ACT, there are some questions that are more difficult than the others.Science is no different. However, unlike the math section, where the questions progress from easy to hard in a linear fashion, each of the 7 passages tends to have 1-2 hard questions that can appear at any point in the passage (though they tend to be the last questions of the passage). These problems may seem challenging at first glance, but they're really just slightly more challenging than the others if you use the right ACT Science strategies and tips that we'll be covering in this guide. Here's what distinguishes easy from hard questions. Most of the easier problems on the ACT Science section are data grab problems, where you simply find the one data point or the single line in the paragraph, and you have your answer. Occasionally, you have to interpret that data, but not in a complicated way. In contrast, themostchallenging ACT Science questions ask you to use multiple data points to come to an answer. They'll take you longer to answer and are harder to get right. Here are the question types I'll cover: Sneaky data grab questions Using multiple visuals to answer the question Using multiple data points within a single visual to answer the question Questions that require outside knowledge Hopefully by the end of this article, you'll feel able to conquer any hard question! Difficult Type #1: Sneaky Data Grab Questions Some sneaky data grab questions will require you to look in strange places for the answer to your question, such as the introduction! ACT makers assume that with such a short time frame (35 minutes to answer 40 questions) students will skip the introduction. If you have time management issues on ACT Science, my recommended strategy is to answer the questions without reading the passage, using the visuals alone, skipping the questionsyou can’t answer with visuals and saving them for the end of the passage.Read more about thestrategy by learning about the 3 types of ACT Science passages. However, when you do go back and skim, includethe introduction in your skimming. The introduction typically holds nuggets of gold. Check out this sneaky data grab ACT science practice question: There was nothing in the visuals to help you answer the question. You had to read this short introduction to find the answer: All four substances are carried down by precipitation, and the process is known as wet deposition. The question is still phrased in a slightly confusing way.In the introduction, it tells you what happens if there is precipitation; it fails to mention what happens when there is no precipitation. It's safe to assume since it wasn’t mentioned that what normally happens during precipitation will NOT happen without precipitation. So, there will be no wet deposition of the 4 substances since all 4 are normally carried down by precipitation. NOTE: Do not get tricked by the flip in relationship. The ACT Science section often asks these questions to trick you. Don’t rule out any part of the passage!Sometimes the answer will be where you least expect it. Difficult Type #2: Synthesize 2 or More Different Graphs While most questions on the ACT Science section only require you to use one data point within one visual, some of the more difficult questions require you to find more information.Like this question below: Start by analyzing the question. What is it asking you to find? When you look at a question, and it asks you about 2 different values, you should realize that this means you will need to grab and compare at least two different pieces of data.In this case, the question asks you about the pressure exerted by O2 at 6 L and at 3 L at 22 degrees Celsius, two different values, so you should be looking for at least those two pieces of data. The question specifically asks you to compare the pressure in 6 L vessel to the pressure in the 3 L vessel at "a given mass of O2." That phrase, "a given mass of O2," is code for at ANY mass of O2added. In order to find this data, you will need to use Figure 1 and 2 (as the question told you). Your next step should be to figure out the difference between Figure 1 and 2 (see what I did there?). Figure 1 represents the results from the 3 L vessel, and Figure 2 represents the results from the 6 L vessel.Knowing this,we now need to compare the pressure across all masses of O2added in the 3 L and 6 L vessels, since as I said above that is what the question is really asking. To do an appropriate comparison, I recommend grabbing 2-3 data points, preferably widespread. Zero is always a safe place to start. In this case, in both the 3 L and 6 L vessel the pressure at 0 g of O2added is 0 torr, which makes logical sense since no O2added means nothing to exert the pressure. Note: it is not important to understand the units. Next data point: let's look at 2 g of O2added. In the 3 L vessel, the pressure is 400 torr, while in the 6 L vessel the pressure is 200 torr. I recommended spreading out the data points, so for our last point, we will look at the maximum mass of O2added, 10 g. In the 3 L vessel, the pressure is 1800 torr, and in the 6 L vessel, the pressure is 900 torr.Below I have synthesized all of the data into a table, this way we can clearly see the comparison of the pressure in the 6 L vessel to the pressure in the 3 L vessel: So for any given amount of O2added (outside of 0), the pressure in the 6 L vessel is half the amount of pressure in the 3 L vessel. So, the answer is A. Do you get the gist here? As a recap, our strategy for solving this practice question was: we understood what the question was asking for (comparing pressure in 6L vs. 3L containers) we found the two graphs representing the 6L and 3L containers we found the O2 line for each graph we picked the same mass of gas added for both graphs and compared the O2 pressures to find that the ratio between the 6L and 3L container was 1:2 Let’s attack one more of these, taking it step-by-step: Let's first figure out what the question is asking of us. The phrasing of this question is slightly more confusing than the last one. It mentions Figure 1 and 2, so we know that we will need to look at both. However, this question doesn't ask for a specific number to look at on the graph, like 10 meters or 550 wavelengths. When this happens, it's harder to pick out the data. When no numbers are mentioned, look for words indicating value such as highest, lowest, biggest, smallest. These words imply numbers and comparisons and give you a hint on how to read the graph. Reading the question closely, we see the question is asking us to find the wavelength with the highest rate of photosynthesis and then see what its relative absorption of chlorophyll a and b are. Let's take this step-by-step. Start by figuring out the difference between Figure 1 and 2. Figure 1 shows the relative absorptions of chlorophyll a and b by wavelength. Figure 2 shows the rate of photosynthesis for a variety of wavelengths. Since, the question first mentions the wavelength with the highest rate of photosynthesis, we will start by using Figure 2 below: You need to find the graph’s maximum. The maximum is where the rate of photosynthesis is highest. The highest peak in rate of photosynthesis is at about 108% at a wavelength of 440 nm. Now, we have completed the first step. The next step is finding the relative absorption of chlorophyll a and b of a wavelength of 440 nm.Looking at Figure 1, it is a little tricky because the intervals of wavelength measure are different.Figure 2 begins at 400 measuring in 20 nm intervals until 720, whereas Figure 1 measures in 25 nm intervals from 400 to 750. Finding 440 nm on Figure 1, in between the second tick mark and 450 mark, we see the dotted line is at it’s maximum and the solid line is low but not at the minimum.Reading the key, we see the dotted line represents the relative absorption of chlorophyll a. The solid line represents the relative absorption of chlorophyll B.So, the relative absorption of chlorophyll A is at a maximum, and the relative absorption of chlorophyll B is low but not at a minimum. Thus, the answer is C. When you are looking at multiple visuals to answer a question, take the problem step-by-step: Start by finding what the question is asking you. Next, figure out the difference between the figures. Find one data point, then move to the next. Take your time and use process of elimination to help you. Difficult Type #3:Analyze Multiple Data Points Within a Single Visual This is one of the trickiest question types on the ACT Science section. And here is one of the hardest tough questions I’ve seen. Not only is the graph crazy, the question requires you to analyze four data points within the graph. Here is the question: Let's break it down. The question is asking you which of the answer choices has the highest intensity at a given frequency. As we discussed above, whenever a question states "at a given X," it means across all values of X.In other words, this question is asking you to pick the answer choice with the highest intensityacross all frequencies. There is a lot of information in the graph below, but the answer choices only require us to consider four conditions:in air or in water, and at S of 100% or at 10^-8%. Looking at the graph below, you may have no idea where to begin: Start by finding the locations of S 100% and S 10^-8% (it is completely fine that you don’t understand what these mean).I don’t even think the passage helped you understand what these mean.I don’t know what they mean, but I can still answer the question correctly. You see S 10^-8% is represented by the two vertical lines at the far left of the graph.S 100% is represented by the two vertical lines at the far right of the graph. Now, you need to locate intensity, since the question asked specifically which has the highest intensity.Intensity is measured on the x-axis.Both lines for S 10^-8 % have a measured intensity between -20 and 0 db (again, understanding the units is not important). Both lines for S 100% have a measured intensity between 180 and 220 db. The S 100% are at a higher intensity, so we can eliminate both S 10^-8% answer choices, G and J. Now, to decide between F and H, we need to figure out whether the intensity was greater in water or air.To do this, we need to distinguish which S 100% line represents water and which one represents air. According to the key, the small dotted line represents water, and the thicker line represents air.The small dotted line is just to the right of the thicker line, so it is at a higher intensity than the thicker line.S 100% in water has an intensity of approximately 205 db and S 100% in air has an intensity of approximately 195 db, so the answer is F. Look how far we've come since the beginning of this section? This graph looked indecipherable, but step by step we were able to break it down. This question is very do-able, you just need to be diligent in your graph reading (if you need more help with this skill check out our article on Factual Questions).Take the problem step-by-step, use process of elimination and check every part of the graph for information (every axis and key). Difficult Type #4:Questions That Require Outside Knowledge There are around 4 questions per test that you will not be able to answer correctly without outside knowledge.Check out our other article for an overview of the topics the ACT expects you to know.Without memorizing these topics, it will be nearly impossible to score between 33 and 36. Recap Hard questions are not that hard. They require the same skills as the easy questions, but you need to do more steps. These questions take longer because they're more complex. ACT Science Tips toremember for these hardest questions: Don’t rule out any part of the passage! Sometimes the answer will be where you least expect it such as in the introduction. Do not get tricked by the flip in relationship. The ACT Science section often asks these types of questions to trick you. When you are looking at multiple visuals to answer a question, take the problem step-by-step. Figure out what the question is asking you. Figure out which figures you need to use. Food Stamp Challenge Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Food Stamp Challenge - Assignment Example The log below shows the meals that I bought and ate during the challenge. The meals in most cases did not meet the dietary requirements due to cost constraints. When these meals were compared to dietary requirements under the ChooseMyPlate chart, diet was not met. The main food groups which include fruits, vegetables, grains and protein foods were used in assessing the dietary requirements. For instance, I did not take any dairy products during this period and essentials oils were used in cooking food. From the chart we notice that an adult requires at least 3 cups of milk in a day. Moreover, an adult requires at least 3 cups of veggies in a day and this requirement was met by 1st and 3rd days of the challenge. While at least 4 ounces of grains that are contained in food such as Pizza, donuts and sandwiches. The major food intake that the body requires is proteins and this was achieved through eating Pizza, Chinese takeout and Double Cheese Burgers (Blatt 87). During the challenge I was able to cut down on intake of proteins due to the high cost of these foods. This requirement was met during the 4 day challenge. During the period of the challenge I was not able to meet the dietary needs but I improved on eating healthy by buying fruit and veggie salads (Counihan 104). The challenge was educational and enriching since it gave me an opportunity to improve on my eating habits. I learnt a lot concerning healthy foods and which food groups I could eat from and how much was required from each food group. However, eating under a tight budget made it difficult to buy some food items and this frustrated unnecessary eating. Especially when it came to indulging in stuff like chocolates, cakes, snacks or ice cream the money was not enough. This disturbed and made it difficult to concentrate during the day especially at meal times. The challenge was quite tiring since it

Blighs Claims and Liabilities in Tort Case Study

Blighs Claims and Liabilities in Tort - Case Study Example Tort may include that this personal violation or wrong can be negligent or intentional such as battery or defamation of character. Torts can also be violations of personal property as well. Strictly speaking, torts are called civil wrongs as opposed to criminal wrongs. However, torts like battery can be both a tort and a crime and the defendant can face both civil and criminal penalties. Torts may be committed with force or without force to the person or to the property in possession. Tort laws have been enacted to provide relief for the damages incurred and deter others from committing the same injurious acts. Under most tort laws, a person can sue for an injunction to stop the continuation of an injurious act or for monetary damages. Under Tort law, a person can also sue for loss of earnings capacity, pain and suffering, and reasonable medical expenses in the present and projected into the future. Some of the more specific torts include trespass, assault & battery, negligence, products liability, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Tort liability fall into three categories: intentional, negligent and liability. (i) Negligence: Negligence is a tort which depends on the existence of a breach of duty of care owed by one person to another. In order to claim damages under 'negligence', the following conditions must have been satisfied. In the above case, the de... b) The defendant breached the duty of care c) Breach causing harm in fact d) The injury / loss was caused by the breach and damages need to be awarded e) Breach being a proximate or not too remote a cause, in law In the above case, the defendant Mr. Hood had negligently left the keys in the ignition, because of which, Mr. Fletcher took the cruiser without Mr. Hood's permission and hit Mr. Bligh's barge. This has resulted in damage to the property of Mr. Bligh. If Mr. Hood had properly locked it, and had not left the keys in the ignition itself, the damage wouldn't have happened. As such, 'negligence' has provided a cause of action against Mr. Hood. In Donoghue v. Stevenson's case , Mrs Donoghue could sue the manufacturer of Ginger Beer for negligence, since he had not exercised due care in checking the contents of Ginger Beer which had decomposed snail in it. (ii) Vicarious Liability: It is not sure whether Mr. Fletcher is an employee of Mr. Hood. If he is an employee of Mr. Hood, Mr. Bligh can claim damages from Mr. Hood under Vicarious liability as well. "Since his employee harmed the barge of Mr. Bligh in the course of his employment, he is required to bear responsibility for it. In one of the tort cases, the conductor of a bus drove the bus negligently and injured a pedestrian. The court ruled that the owner of that bus is liable for conductor's irresponsible act, since the accident happened during the course of employment. (iii) Intangible Economic Interests / Monitory loss: Because of the above act of Mr. Fletcher, the barge was damaged and took a day to repair. As a result, Mr. Bligh was unable to use it to carry on his transport business and lost a day's profit, there being no other barge available. Mr. Bligh, can claim the monitory loss

The Causes Of Prison Overcrowding Criminology Essay

The Causes Of Prison Overcrowding Criminology Essay In this research report i have explained the causes of prison overcrowding and how to deal with them and what are the solution and reduction plan for prison over crowding. The health and safety issues of inmates, offenders as well as the general public. INTRODUCTION Correctional Institution is a prison which means a place where the criminals are bieng kept in a limited and ristricted way. They are kept in a place where there is no freedom and there are different crime levels. Crime levels depends on what type of crime he or she has done and then they are transferred in a suitable place that is where do they deserve to spend there time in the prison, and are they in a condition to spend there time in a good way or in a restricted way that includes the facilities given by the Institutes. The facilities are those which is decided already by the government.Correctional Institutions involves a criminal justice system which makes the offenders detained and help them to improve themselves by facilities given by the institutions. Each country has its own way to the criminal justice system and uses its own correctional facilities in different methods. These institutions have 3 types of facilities which includes Jails, Prisons and Juvenile detention. The facilities also include a seprate buliding for male and female prisoners. If we look behind in the history, the criminals were kept in the jail and keeping them in a jail was not a punishment in itself, but it was rather a way to put them in restriction and limited levels until they could get a death penalty. Dungeons was known as a prison before and those prisoners which were left behind to die were usually sent to do salvery in which the prisoners can become Galley Slaves or facing Penal Transportation. For example, It was reported in france that they sent the convicts to devilà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Island and the UK colonies in America (Penal Transportation , 2012) Causes of Prison Overcrowding Prison Overcrowding is causing due to the high rate of criminals and not taking care of it by using correct means and ways to reduce the crime rate. There are certain issues implemented by the government by which an individual can easily sentenced to prison by a harsher penality on simple offenses. There are some common needs of the citizens, to get those common needs the citizens in take a wrong way to fulfill the need because there is no other way to reach it, the thing they want is very difficult to be fulfilled so they implement or plan to do very offensive and dangerous techniques which can give harm to government as well as countrys value, so keeping in mind everything, country also should give some facilities to the citizen so they dont find a wrong way to do it. There are some situations on which government gets very easy and does not keeps security in some levels where there should be high security and that gives an open chance to the criminals.Bieng tough on crime is also not good because goverment usually find no other way to solve the problem so they give punishment at the end of the day. The government should never be soft on crimes and as well as too much aggressive. These both things definetely gives the government a positive expectation of crime so it is better to implement such rules that gives a balanced situation of crime level. One of the causes that includes overcrowding is that there is very less number of facilities given to all of the offenders for example: Some offenders are given the facility and most of them are shifted back to the prisons that is out of state which increases the number, that causes overcrowding in prison. The main facility which is not given to the offenders are the high security prison beds. A offender th at needs a high security should not be left on a place where there is almost no security and the population of offenders are increasing but the goverment is not implementing accurate facility to the institutes. There are some prisoners who have never done any crime but just because they have some personal incident happened in there life so the hospitals cant handle them they are also sent to prison staff just to get some punishment instead they need a care until and unless they are some special case in there health Health Issues Overall The Health issues of a human bieng includes everything which is related to him or her happening in everyday routine weather its a mental stress or physical stress, any kind of stress taking place in human bieng gives a result in which they would have some health issues end of the day. Inmates and Prison Staff When we have a look on inmates and prison staff with there health issues most of the prisoners have mental disabilities. As reported in 2005 half of all the prison and jail offenders have mental health problems and that includes the number of health problems find in a prison that is 705,600 in State Prisons, 78,800 in Federal Prisons and 479,900 in local jails. These figures were configured by a personal interview with the State and Federal prisoners in 2004 and local jail inmates in 2002 (Glaze, 14/12/2006) As my research for prison staff, there were also female prisoners having mental health problems which were at a risk of abuse and at worst stage of mental illness. The women who doesnt have any mental issues can develope it by the enviroment given from the institutes which are very poor in condition, overcrowded, no safety and security and staff which were having to attiquates to deal with the females. General Public Health issues rising in general public is usually due to mental depression or stress which makes the human bieng aggressive and hyper and that causes many wrong things. As to my research violence is the main reason of public health problems. It was reported that violence and health were rarely used together 30 years ago (Services, 2009). There were many diseases like yellow fever, poliomyelitis, typhus, diphtheria, and pertussis but the main leading diseases were Tuberculosis and pneumonia in 20th century. Nowadays the health issues taking place in public is homicide, suicide, cancer, heart diseases, stroke and AIDS. These all diseases are taking place because of loads of stress, depression, diet changing, way of living, less workout and bieng careless on personal lifestyle and hygiene. Solutions and Precautions taken to resolve the issue As we look on the conditions of prison staff because they are going through mental illness and health problems so the correctional institute should provide or implement a way which is very caring and problem solving that they can atleast have peace of mind and feel comfortable as compare to punish them or sending them out of state. There are places in prison where there is just a room and you have to stay there eating, drinking, sleeping and your bathroom services in the same place which can give more mental stress and more health problems because there would be no hygiene. There are very few correctional institutes which have good facilities for the prisoner but most of the institutes or jails have very inadequate services and doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know how to deal with them. Keeping in my mind all these things a country should organize an institute which should have some levels and categories to deal with different type of prisoners keeping in mind some factors Medical, Psychological, environmental etc and approaching a treatment that is very medicated and cleaned with some good facilities provided. As it is very challenging to maintain a good correctional institute due to increase in large number of prisoners, lack of resources, poor organization and high rate of mental illness and facing them repeatedly. Correctional Institutes can be a educational centre also if they can be given a better prison to improve themselves doing many knowledgeable things given by the institute for example: painting, writing and playing in an open ground so that they could feel better and relaxed. These all things could be given to the prisoners who are in a balanced condition to deal with, by approaching this task the prisoners with low mental illness can come in a better s ituation. Qualified Doctors are very less to work for the prison staff so the prison administration should make sure if the experts are dealing with the prisoners they should deal in a good way. Now as we come across the general public Most of the issues are solved are free to improve their health because they are not always alone dealing with themselves but they would have someone taking care or usually they have a family supporting them by which they get lots of help and care they needed until and unless they are on a situation where there health issue is accessed to the dangerous stage and that includes only suffering from a disease . Steps taken to reduce prison overcrowding As we look behind the circumstances and causes of the prison overcrowding the general steps should be taken first and to be started after having the positive reply of the public. Long Term It should be done in a that the government should banns the drugs in the country and charge fine whoever is using it. This way that the criminals should keep many things in mind. If they approach a new concept of giving warnings, fines, alerts then there will be a way of less criminals and less crowd in the prison. Short Term There are many countries which have very high crime rate and less organized correctional institute. Putting the criminals in jail only if they have done a big robbery or theft and then they can be handover to high authorities. Reduction Plan To reduce recidivism there should be a rapid plan, We can do it by increasing public safety by making sure to achieve a low rate of criminal behavior. We can give a service to the offenders and criminals in the prison by giving them a good chance to move back to their place but with a good attitude and with a safe environment. The community health centers can play a big role in solving this problem and implementing new law and order. For further details on reduction plan we can follow the FDC plan that is (A.McNeil, 2009-2014) Conclusion I would like to conclude my research on overcrowding by the interview given by Glen Whorton, who is the director of Ely state prison followed by the link (Whaley, 2007)

Officer Class in Journeys End by RC Sheriff :: Journeys End Literature War Military Essays

Officer Class in Journey’s End During the World War many people found themselves in mid filled trenches eating rations and living with a host of creatures including rats, mice and many insects. There was however a group of people who did not sleep so rough, the officers, no matter what rank of officer you were you would sleep in a quarters with other officers and not with the men and you would have your own personal cook. Although the living conditions were not up to standards with even a one star hotel, they were easier to bear than what the soldiers had to. In this essay I will be talking about what you learn about the officers in the book â€Å"Journey’s End†. I will be discussing their hobbies and values. The officers shared the same kind of upbringing; all came from private schools and were highly educated. Raleigh and Stanhope both came from the same school and were friends outside school, often visiting one and others homes. Osborne and Trotter have been working in different jobs for a while before being drafted whereas Stanhope and Raleigh came straight from school into the officer’s life. Not much is known about trotter as he is not talked about much in the story but it is my assumption that he was also from a private school. Osborne and Trotter were both drafted as officers because of their professions; they are both regarded highly in society. Stanhope and Raleigh however were drafted as officers because of the professions of family members, Stanhope’s father is a vicar and Raleigh’s uncle is a senior officer, meaning he is most likely from a military background. In terms of age of the officers, Osborne is by far the most aged of the officers being called uncle says this quite clearly that they are mocking his age in a friendly manner. Though Osborne is older Stanhope is senior to him, many comments are made that Osborne should run the company but Osborne sticks up for the young commander. Although Stanhope is superior he values the opinion of his lower officers. It is clear from the conversations that they all enjoy sport, especially â€Å"Ruggers† or rugby as more commonly known. It shows that they are all abundant in physical strength and it shows that Stanhope has good leadership skills as he captained the cricket team in school. Osborne however trumps him by telling Raleigh how he capped for the England rugby team, but he swore Raleigh to secrecy so he may be lying about that. The officers are all fighting so that they can get back to their

Cardiovascular Physiology And Hypertension Health And Social Care Essay

High blood pressure is a major contributing hazard factor for cardiovascular diseases and decease responsible for more than any other biomedical hazard factors worldwide. [ 1 ] The hazard factors associated with high blood pressure include shot, coronary bosom disease, chronic bosom failure, chronic kidney disease and their patterned advance. [ 1 ] The hazards is a consequence of the structural harm to the bosom, which is holding to work harder as a pump to the demand of the organic structure, big and little blood vass and the variety meats they supply. [ 2 ] Approximately 29 % of the Australian population have high blood pressure. [ 2 ] There are many hazard factors that may hold attributed to high blood pressure. They include familial factors, household history, race, age, gender, lifestyle and presence of other diseases or unwellness. To accomplish a decrease in blood force per unit area and cardiovascular hazards, a lifestyle alteration that include regular exercising, weight los t, decrease in intoxicant consumption, surcease of smoke and eating healthier is recommended to patients enduring from high blood pressure. [ 2 ] In some instances, antihypertensive drugs are used in combination with lifestyle alterations to assist cut down blood force per unit area. This is due to the presence of blood force per unit area sensitive conditions such as shot, diabetes or chronic kidney disease. [ 1 ] High blood pressure is classified as holding an elevated force per unit area in the blood ‘s systolic and diastolic degree at remainder. [ 3 ] Therefore the blood force per unit area that is pumping in the arterial wall is higher than normal due to emphasize and tenseness that is applied to the arterias. The blood force per unit area would match with increasing the force per unit area doing the blood force per unit area addition every bit good. Hypertension is normally diagnosed one time blood systolic force per unit area is above 140mmHg and diastolic force per unit area greater than 90mmHg. For normal patients, blood force per unit area is about 120mmHg for systolic force per unit area and 80mmHg for diastolic force per unit area. [ 3 ] With high blood pressure, it could be classified as a soundless slayer as there are no symptoms associated with the disease. [ 4 ] So unless high blood pressure is terrible at that place would be no symptoms developing for diagnosing to be det ected at a glimpse. [ 3 ] High blood pressure can be classified into primary or indispensable and secondary high blood pressure. Primary high blood pressure is really common imputing to 85-95 % in most instances of high blood pressure. [ 3 ] Primary high blood pressure is a multifactorial disease where is no individual caused related to it. [ 4 ] Several factors may play a function and with the combined effects contributes to high blood pressure. These could be seen in the mosaic theory in Figure 2 below. As seen there are many factors that may assist lend to primary high blood pressure. Table 1. Categorization of the different phases of Hypertension. [ 1 ] Calciferol: School WorkYear 3 Sem 1CardioHypertensionComplex of BP.jpg Figure 1. Page ‘s Mosaic Theory of Hypertension. [ 3 ] Approximately 30 % of the instances of primary high blood pressure are attributed by familial factors. [ 4 ] The incidence of high blood pressure is greater in African Americans than that to Caucasians or Asians. [ 4 ] Persons who have one or two parents with high blood pressure, is twice more likely than the normal population to hold high blood pressure. [ 4 ] The bulk of primary high blood pressure patients have abnormalcy to their arterias, hence an increased opposition due to stiffness or miss of snap in the arterias is doing the elevated blood force per unit area. [ 4 ] As we age, the snap of the arterias is bit by bit lost and will go stiff. This is why the hazards of high blood pressure is greater in people who are 50 old ages or older. [ 4 ] The increased in opposition causes the bosom muscles to work harder to pump the blood through the blood vass, therefore the strain on the bosom lead to abnormalcies in the hypertrophied size of bosom musculuss on the left ventricle. [ 4 ] Secondary high blood pressure contributes 5 % to the overall instances of high blood pressure. [ 4 ] They are known every bit secondary as there is basically a specific upset in some peculiar organ or blood vas, such as the kidney, adrenal secretory organ or aortal arteria that is doing the lift in blood force per unit area. [ 4 ] Exercise is an act of the organic structure to exercise itself by physical motion which could include walking, running, swimming, or any sort of endurance and aerophilic preparation. It is recommended that single should undergo visible radiation to chair physical exercising at least one time every twenty-four hours for at least 30 to 45 proceedingss. [ 6 ] Physical exercising is a good manner to battle high blood pressure. It is implemented in patients with the prescribed antihypertensive drugs so that maybe the opportunity of decrease in blood force per unit area could cut down or get rid of the demand for antihypertensive drugs. [ 1 ] When the organic structure is undergoing mechanical work such as exercise, the shear or stretch force stimulated will originate the remodelling of the assorted tissues such as the cardiac and skeletal musculuss and blood vass. [ 7 ] Stretching of these musculuss is caused by the force per unit area overload which cause the bosom to undergo hypertrophy. [ 7 ] Therefore cardiomyocytes will spread out by adding sarcomeres in the skeletal musculuss which will increase the contractile force of the single cells. [ 7 ] Exercise is a good manner to advance remodelling of the bosom. [ 7 ] They can bring forth hypertrophy and distend the cardiomyocytes in the needful skeletal musculuss. The bosom will hold to pump harder to run into the O demand applied by the metabolic work. Therefore the emphasis caused on the bosom will take to hypertrophy. Normally the force per unit area overload increases the mechanical emphasis on myocardium which hypertrophy will seek to cut down this emphasis by incre asing the thickness of the ventricle wall. [ 7 ] But due to chronic high blood pressure the natural remodelling of the bosom may really take to bosom failure. The remodelling of the bosom caused by high blood pressure will ensue in left ventricular hypertrophy. Thickening of the left ventricular wall will happen due to emphasize initiated and cut down the chamber volume by the addition in growing of cardiomyocytes. [ 7 ] As new cardiomyocytes is generated, old 1s are besides triggered for programmed cell death and may take to fibrosis. Therefore this will take to an addition in the volume of the bosom Chamberss which is seen in the increased thickness of the wall and will diminish the contractile force map. The fibrosis caused by high blood pressure reduces the organisation in bosom musculus and increase the stiffness of the myocardium which reduces the filling of the bosom during diastole. [ 7 ] Therefore the stiffening and loss of contractility is an inauspicious consequence of ex erting in chronic hypertensive patients. Peripheral opposition is besides reduced during exercising. This is caused by the vasoconstriction in some countries of the organic structure that may non be in usage such as the intestine and visceral parts and diverts the blood off from these countries. [ 8 ] Contracting musculuss will do vasodilatation to distend the arteriolas in these musculuss and lessening entire peripheral opposition and allows the bosom to pump more blood. So exercising will do the entire peripheral opposition to cut down and allows the bosom to pump more blood to provide the O demand. Even though entire peripheral opposition is reduced, exercising will somewhat increase the arterial force per unit area. This is caused by the demand of cardiac end product in the catching musculuss. The demand is still needed to these countries so no count how much vasodilatation is happening to cut down the entire peripheral opposition, cardiac end product is still needed to pump blood to needed countries. This will do the arterial force per unit area to increase in exercising as the demand in undertaking musculuss increases with the strength of the exercising. [ 8 ] The bosom is able to provide a stable flow of blood to the organic structure but under utmost and demand addition in metabolic work, the bosom is able to increase its shot volume and consequence in the addition of the volume of the ventricles. [ 8 ] In exercising since the musculuss is being made to work excess hard, it will heighten the venous return which will do an addition in stroke volume. As exercising is continued the bosom rate will besides be increasing which will ensue in addition of cardiac end product due to oxygen demand in the active musculuss during exercising. [ 8 ] Lifestyle alterations are recommended for all patients with high blood pressure regardless of drugs being taken. Changes made in life style are to accomplish a decrease in blood force per unit area in patients. These alterations could include decrease in Na consumption, increasing healthy feeding wonts and nutritionary consumption, a diet consisting of low saturated fat content, keeping a healthy weight scope, surcease of smoke, cut down intoxicant ingestion and most of all, at least some signifier of physical activity. Salt contains Na and chloride which helps to keep the right volume of blood and tissue fluids in the organic structure. Kidneies are the chief regulators of Na degrees in the organic structure. Therefore sodium consumption will play a function in the fluid keeping as the concentration of sodium addition will increase H2O loss in the organic structure and increase the blood force per unit area degrees. The extent of decrease is dependent on your age and blood force per unit area. Sodium decrease may non take down blood force per unit area in younger people with low or normal blood force per unit area. [ 5 ] A individual ‘s weight is by and large associated with their cholesterin degree. Peoples who are fleshy tend to hold high cholesterin and elevated blood force per unit area. Low-density lipoproteins ( LDLs ) are able to traverse the endothelial bed and enter the bomber endothelial infinite. Therefore the rate of entry of LDLs into the arterial wall is increased and do accretion in the blood vass. LDLs are modified and promote macrophage to the countries. However, macrophage has receptors that recognize the LDLs and are able to roll up in the macrophage and are converted to froth cells. These cells are the causes of coronary artery disease. Foam cells are able to show growing factors and proteases that lead to cell proliferation and matrix being degraded which will take to tear of the atherosclerotic pestilence. [ 9 ] Figure 2. The formation of froth cells via macrophage oxidizing LDLs. [ 9 ] Cigarettes smoke contain many chemicals including nicotine and C monoxide. [ 5 ] Smoking causes a build-up of plaques which may take to damage in the interior bed of the arterias making a coronary thrombosis. It besides contributes to the development and acceleration of coronary artery disease. Therefore cholesterin is able to come in the arteria walls more quickly and would do blood coagulum to happen in the arterias. [ 5 ] This will take to bosom onslaughts as the entire peripheral opposition is increased with coronary artery disease and obstruction of blood vass in the arterias. Alcohol ingestion should besides be reduced as it affects the pituitary secretory organ in stamp downing the production of anti-diuretics endocrine. This will do failure in the kidneys to resorb equal sum of H2O and lead to desiccation of the organic structure. This will do lift in blood force per unit area. [ 10 ] In a survey â€Å" Beneficial effects of physical exercising on high blood pressure and cardiovascular inauspicious remodeling of diet-induced corpulent rats † it is found that the exercising corpulent rats had a major decrease after 4 hebdomads of exerting holding a difference of 25 % lessening at the terminal of the experiment. [ 11 ] The corpulent rats showed cardiomyocyte hypertrophy which is reduced after exerting. Exercise had besides eased the loss of left ventricular cardiomyocytes. The wall thickness of the aorta and common carotid arterias was significantly smaller in exercised corpulent rats than the sedentary obese rats which lead to improved peripheral opposition arterias of the corpulent rats. [ 11 ] In another survey â€Å" The good consequence of regular endurance exercising preparation on blood force per unit area and quality of life in patients with high blood pressure † shows the important of exerting in the decrease of blood force per unit area. The survey shows that by exerting you can cut down systolic blood force per unit area by 13.1mmHg and diastolic blood force per unit area by 6.3mmHg. [ 12 ] There is clear and evidentiary information sing the decrease of blood force per unit area in mild to chair high blood pressure patients but the conflicting issues arises with patients who are in the class 3 phase of high blood pressure ( SBP & gt ; 180mmHg, DBP & gt ; 110mmHg ) known as chronic high blood pressure. Many surveies have proven that by exerting a decrease in blood force per unit area is the consequence. Exercising will originate hypertrophy to heighten the capacity of the bosom to pump to run into the O demand of the organic structure. In this phenomenon the bosom is able to of course cut down the emphasis by increasing the thickness of the ventricle wall. From the survey on the induced corpulent rats, the wall thickness of the aorta and carotid arterias were smaller in the exercised corpulent rats. For patients with chronic high blood pressure, exercising is non recommended as this may originate hypertrophy and may do bosom failure in the patient. As blood force per uni t area is well high in chronic patients, the lift in blood force per unit area with exercising may do the bosom to neglect and the O demand will non be met. Therefore the demand for antihypertensive drug is introduced with these patients alternatively. Drugs that could be used include water pills, I?-Blockers, Ca2+ Channel Blockers, ACE Inhibitors, Angiotensin II receptor adversary and I ±-adrenoceptor adversary. Exercise is proven to cut down blood force per unit area in hypertensive patients by undergoing hypertrophy which produces cardiovascular versions that will increase work capacity, endurance and vascular map. It can besides increase the strength of musculuss and cut down cardiovascular hazards. The instance surveies have statistically showed the significance of decrease in blood force per unit area by cardiac remodelling of the bosom. Patients with grade 3 high blood pressure will necessitate to be treated with antihypertensive drugs every bit good as undergoing visible radiation exercisings. For the effectual decrease in blood force per unit area, all patients are recommended to alter their life style and include exercising as portion of their day-to-day modus operandi.
